Day 1: Adventure Begins

Well, not so much adventure today. Just traveling. Whoever said "getting there is half the fun" clearly hasn't spent four hours on a plane recently. But aside from the standard gripes about legroom and lack of personal space, the trip wasn't too bad.

We flew out from MSP (that's Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport) on Alaska Air to Seatac (Seattle-Tacoma International Airport). We were already enjoying warmer temperatures here in Seattle, it was 49 degrees Fahrenheit when we landed, much warmer than the arctic chill that had settled in over the Midwest for the majority of our winter break. The obligatory "you know you're a midwesterner when..." line felt pretty accurate as we wandered around Seattle in light jackets while natives wore heavy winter coats.

After a brief excursion in the wrong direction, we found our way from the tramway station to our lodgings in Seattle: Seattle City Suites. After much ado and confusion, we figured out who was staying where in which building, and set our bags down quickly before running out to get food (at this point it was 8:00 PM Seattle time, so 10:00 PM body time, and most of us hadn't eaten since lunch). We all went to the pizza restaurant next door--Belltown Pizza--and got a few pizzas for the famished group. As an aside, if you ever find yourself in Seattle, and more specifically, at Belltown Pizza, I highly recommend the Blanco. It's got mozzarella and ricotta cheese and pesto sauce. Delicious. After a quick group meal we disbanded until tomorrow, when we'll visit Snapchat in the morning.

Travel is always hectic, but I'm looking forward to the rest of my trip. I'll be writing daily posts on what I'm doing to justify getting course credit for spending January on the West Coast, so stay tuned for my ramblings!
